9/11 Kids "Feel the Music" at Benefit Concert

On Friday, June 29th, 2007 The World Foundation for Music and Healing will hold its second annual spring benefit concert for Feel the Music! at Saint Peter's Church in Manhattan. Performers include: The Arturo O'Farrill Sextet, Feel the Music! faculty and students from the program.

Students will have the chance of a lifetime and sit in with Mr. O'Farrill's ensemble. In addition, three films made by teens in Feel the Music! video workshops will be premiered. Proceeds from the concert at Saint Peter's Church (54th Street and Lexington Avenue) will fund interactive music, art and video workshops, individual lessons, concerts and retreats for children and families affected by 9/11, including those who lost a loved one, who worked on the recovery, are witnesses or survivors, or who live or attend school in lower Manhattan. Performers include Mr. O'Farrill, Erica von Kleist, Valerie Ghent, Dende Macedo, Bar Scott, and students in the Feel the Music! program.

Feel the Music! is offered through the World Foundation for Music and Healing (WFMH), dedicated to promoting healing through music and nurturing creative expression in children and families who have suffered trauma and loss. Feel the Music! is currently in five locations in the Tri-State area and in two downtown public schools. Arturo O'Farrill is the music director and pianist for Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble and for the Feel the Music! program. WFMH is a project of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc.
