| Rod MacDonald Mixes Personal with Political & Social Satire Rod MacDonald, veteran singer/songwriter of contemporary music and modern folk songs, and international touring and recording artist, makes a rare appearance in Atlanta, Georgia on June 29th and June 30th. Bringing his unique brand of eclectic music combined with political and social satire, Rod will be performing both Friday and Saturday evenings, 10:00 PM, at The Swallow At The Hollow, Roswell, GA. A veteran of 30 years and a pivotal figure in the Greenwich Village 80's folk revival, Rod has remained a vital force in the contemporary folk community. As distinctive an entertainer as he is a songwriter, Rod maintains an aggressive touring and recording schedule. He has just returned from a successful European Tour, has begun recording and production for his newest CD scheduled for Spring release, and will be teaching at several Florida Atlantic University locations in the Fall of 2007. Well-known for his often reckless-politically-charged but deliciously tongue-in-cheek political and social commentaries, he especially enjoys poking fun at 'political chicanery'. His broadly diversified music is infused with nuances of modern folk, blues, light jazz, rock and pop. The Boston Folk Festival describes Rod as "an original Greenwich Village icon-a pivotal folk singer who uses his background in law and journalism to ask the important questions of our times." write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
