His schedule this summer is impressive, and will be memorable and heartening for his fellow jazz musicians and lovers of the art. Fresh from a year in which he played in Miami and New York with the Clifford Brown/Stan Getz All-Stars, in Los Angeles with the Gibson-Baldwin Grammy Jazz Band, and in Fresno with the California All-State High School Jazz Band, Isaac was recently selected as the outstanding high school trombonist at the Reno Jazz Festival. Along with bassist Dustin Moore, Isaac played in a quintet at Long Beach Poly that was just chosen by Downbeat Magazine for a 2006 outstanding ensemble award. August 22nd Isaac will enroll at the Manhattan School of Music with a presidential scholarship award majoring in jazz trombone performance. The Isaac Kaplan Quartet, young all, is accomplished beyond their chronological ages.
