Summer Johnson is a disciplined singer, as well as an artistic, innovative songwriter. Her talent flouts standards, and her voice turns any naysayer into a believer.

This songbird has begun to spread her wings. Her debut single, "I'm Hot, " from her forthcoming Pendulum Records full-length release has the streets buzzing, and is currently gaining significant radio airplay. On Thursday, July 26th, 98.7 KISS FM presents Summer Soul Nights; Summer Johnson at 7 P.M. Summer will perform live at South Street, Seaport Pier 17, opening for Ledisi.

Summer's career was set in motion when she became the lead back-up singer for Bad Boy's recording artist Carl Thomas at the early age of 16. Soon after, Summer toured internationally, performing background vocals for music stars Pink, Busta Rhymes, David Banner, No Doubt, and Billal.
The new single, Summer Johnson, "I'm Hot, " produced by the SupaSonics comes from a revitalized Pendulum Records. The sultry singer pushes the boundaries of pop, hip hop, and R&B with her infectious energy and powerful vocals.

Pendulum Records is the label that signed and developed Grammy-Award Winning Digable Planets, the groundbreaking platinum-selling hip hop groups Lords of the Underground and Boogie Monsters, as well as the R&B group Divine with a single "Lately" reaching #1 on Billboard's Hot 100.

The founder of Pendulum Records, Ruben Rodriguez' extensive knowledge and rise to executive leadership took root when he landed a position at Motown as the Northeast Regional Marketing and Promotion Manager. Rodriguez left Motown to join the marketing and promotion team at then newly formed Casablanca Records. There he found his niche working with edgier artists like the Village People, Donna Summer, Parliament, Funkadelic and Cameo. "My years at Casablanca opened my perspective and shaped my desire to work with talent outside of the mainstream. I'm motivated by the creative challenge of helping to introduce a new sound and image into the broader market." That sentiment has become Rodriguez' trademark and passion, which defined his tenures at Island and at Columbia Records, as Senior Vice President. He helped shape the careers of such top artists as Grace Jones and George Michael, who made history by being the first non-black to achieve a No.1 album in the R&B Charts, with "Faith". Regina Belle, Terence Trent D'Arby, Public Enemy, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, and LL Cool J were some of the artists who benefited through their association with Ruben Rodriguez.

Summer is very excited to be a part of the Pendulum family. With a break-through album on the horizon and a live show packed with explosive energy, Summer Johnson is ready to take her turn on the charts. Recently, Summer Johnson stated, "This is my passion and I know we're going to make it happen."
