| The Mahavishnu Organ Trio Project at the Iridium The Mahavishnu Organ Trio Project pays tribute to one of the creators of jazz-rock, Mr. Miles Davis with a very special evening of classic Miles tunes viewed through the lens of the organ trio - ”Emergency Miles: The Electric Fusion of Miles Davis” on Sunday, May 20th at the Iridium Jazz Club, New York. A creative off-shoot sprouting from the amazing Mahavishnu Project, the trio consists of drummer Gregg Bendian (Ornette Coleman/Pat Metheny), guitarist Glenn Alexander (Randy Brecker/Chico Hamilton) and features Miles Davis/Wayne Shorter sideman, Adam Holzman on organ. The three are well-known for their stunning work with The Mahavishnu Project (Cuneiform Records), which tirelessly expands the frontiers of jazz repertory to now include the electric jazz-rock of the 1970's. The Mahavishnu Organ Trio Project has presented stunning new renditions of the music of John McLaughlin & The Mahavishnu Orchestra and have also tackled the seminal jazz-rock music of Tony Williams' Lifetime. This time out, the trio traces the musical roots of both Mahavishnu and Lifetime and focuses on the music of the master and father of jazz-rock - the one and only Miles Davis. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
