| Frances Nero Pays Homage to Dinah Washington After spending much of the past year devoted to her first film project, Frances Nero returns to the music scene with a delicious tribute to Dinah Washington. The new release offers Frances' fresh yet classic take on beloved standards made popular by the Queen of the Blues herself. The limited edition CD will be available for purchase on June 1, 2007 at www.cdbaby.com/francesnero. Ms. Nero enlisted the talent and expertise of her friend and fellow Motown alumnus, Clay McMurray. The album, Frances' first in the jazz vein, was produced at McMurray's Love N' Comfort Studio in Detroit. Frances comments: “This is a lifelong dream of mine to salute Dinah for the feelings she gave to a song, she's the one.” Although Frances' jazzy side will no doubt be a new sound for fans, it is old hat for Nero. She is better known as a Motown and dance diva, but she began singing jazz before she became the first female artist signed to Motown's Soul imprint in 1965. This album showcases Frances' impeccable sense of timing and a sassy tone that would have made Dinah proud. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
