| Jazz Appreciation Month Events at the Woodlawn Cemetery April is Jazz Appreciation Month and many of the world's greatest jazz musicians are at rest in The Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, Coleman Hawkins, Joseph “King” Oliver, Jonah Jones, Milt Jackson and Illinois Jacquet are among the musicians and composers in Woodlawn's care. The Friends of The Woodlawn Cemetery will pay tribute to the jazz greats by hosting special walking tours and a concert honoring Duke Ellington.
