| Kaiku at Trinity Church by Evan Bleier Kaiku (Jaana Kaatola, voice, kantele; Paula Jaakkola, voice, kantele; Uri Sharlin, accordion, piano; Greg Hefferman, cello; Mike LaValle, bass, banjo; John Hadfield, percussion) will perform on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Trinity Church, NYC. Kaiku is the perfect musical example of New York City at work. Blending musical traditions from around the globe, Kaiku melodically blends jazz, pop and classical music with rhythm structures taken from the musical tradition of Brazil. This musical base is then complimented with original lyrics and folk poetry from Finland. The result is some of the most unique and innovative music being played today. Trinity Concerts is glad to able to bring Kaiku's international sound to downtown Manhattan. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
