| Dallas International Guitar Festival The 30th Anniversary Dallas International Guitar Festival yesterday announced its 2007 headlining MusicFest artists and a partial list of the more than 60 rare and historic pieces in its once-in-a-lifetime Holy Grail Exhibition April 20-22, 2007 at Dallas Market Hall. More than 60 artists will perform non-stop on four live concert stages. Friday, April 20, Paul Reed Smith, premier luthier and founder of PRS Guitars will jam with his own band featuring Dangerous Dan Toler, Derek St. Holmes, Johnny Hiland, and Bugs Henderson, followed by The Stratoblasters All-Star Jam and multiple Grammy-Award winning winner Rick Derringer ("Rock 'n' Roll Hoochie Coo, "Hang On Sloopy") who is known for his work with Steely Dan, Johnny and Edgar Winter and Cyndi Lauper, as well as Fort Worth's own Radiant who played recently on The Jimmy Kimmel Show live from New York City's Times Square. On Saturday, April 21, new pop sensation touring with B.B. King, Keb Mo and John Mayer, Kyle Riabko, will perform along with Grammy and Dove Award-winning artists Jars of Clay, up for a record six Dove Awards this year, with special guests Burlap to Cashmere. Grammy Award- winning guitarist Eric Johnson, who critics name as one of the most accomplished guitar virtuosos on the planet, will perform with Bill Maddox as Evinrude Fever as well as returning crowd favorite Johnny A and Rick Vito of Fleetwood Mac fame. New southern rock sensation Black Stone Cherry will also perform. An unprecedented and unscripted Stratoblasters All-Star Jam will be the highlight of the evening with all headlining guitarists like Jim Messina (Buffalo Springfield, Poco, Loggins & Messina), Gary Hoey and George Lynch, drummers such as Jamie Oldaker (Clapton) on stage at the same time. Sunday, April 22, headliners include Brit and Canadian rock legend Pat Travers, Monte Montgomery who has won 7 Austin Music Awards, Phil Keaggy and Glass Harp and artists such as David Grissom, Fort Worth indie rockers Green River Ordinance, Grammy Award-winning Greg Martin of the Kentucky Headhunters with Rufus Huff, and Hero Factor will also perform. The Holy Grail Exhibition presented by Heritage Auction Galleries will topple any collection of rare, historic and vintage instruments ever assembled under one roof. Never will this many private collections from all over the world be on display to the public again. Plan on ogling Eric Clapton's "Blackie, " the most expensive guitar ever auctioned, Clapton's Gibson ES 335 from Cream, the first Telecaster ever made, Leo Fender and Gibson's original patent drawings, the 1936 D45s first Jumbo Martin Guitar valued at $500, 000, Jimi Hendrix's Strat, guitars from Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Lenny" and his signature black hat, and Pete Townshend's "Flying V." This event gained so much attention that is being filmed for a major movie for the Smithsonian Network and photographed for a book at this year's festival.
