| Grateful Dead Tops Musicbox List of Readers' Favorites Popular magazine The Music Box has released the ranking of its readers' favorites for the first quarter of 2007. Topping the list is the Grateful Dead's Live at the Cow Palace: New Year's Eve 1976. Trailing the album are John Mayer's Continuum, Son Volt's The Search, and America's Here & Now. Said The Music Box's founder John Metzger, "After a very busy 2005, the Grateful Dead spent the entirety of last year shifting its archival business to Rhino. The Cow Palace set was a welcome return for the band, and it was highly anticipated by fans. Since it was founded in 1994, The Music Box has placed a heavy emphasis upon the Grateful Dead, so I'm not surprised that the album fared as well as it did, especially considering how good the set is." These rankings are compiled from sales and traffic statistics through The Music Box's web site. The Music Box, which is in its 14th year of operation, covers a wide array of music, including blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, folk, and the many configurations of rock 'n' roll. Subscribers to The Music Box's e-mail list and regular visitors to its web site are treated to reviews of the latest albums, DVDs, movies, books, and concerts as well as in-depth interviews and articles, daily music news, and concert listings. In addition, members of its e-mail list are eligible to win a variety of items. This month's giveaways include CDs of John Mellencamp's Freedom's Road, Norah Jones' Not Too Late, the Grateful Dead's Live at the Cow Palace: New Year's Eve 1976, and Romeo + Juliet: Music from the Motion Picture (10th Anniversary Edition).
