Beginning Tuesday, April 3rd and playing through Saturday, April 28th, Ms. Smith, hailed as “The Queen of Swing,” will have the tony Cafe Carlyle crowd literally snapping their fingers and tapping their toes. Backed by “The Wildest,” her top-flight big band, led by her longtime pianist/conductor Dennis Michaels, Smith will present a rollicking program of swing classics and jazz standards, including her Grammy-nominated song “I Wish You Love.” At 75 years young, Keely remains at the top of her game! Hailed by Tony Bennett as “one of the greatest jazz-pop singers of all time,” the legendary Keely Smith has been a favorite of Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Elvis Presley and JFK. She began her career as the female singer in Louis Prima's band, and later became world famous as one half of their hugely successful Las Vegas lounge act. From her chart-topping albums on Capitol Records, including her Grammy-nominated solo debut “I Wish You Love,” to her five decades of nightclub and concert performances, Keely continues to perform to SRO audiences across the country, including stops in Atlantic City, Los Angeles and New York City. Critics everywhere have praised her unique song styling and delightful stage presence. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
