| O'Leary's New Album Irish guitarist Mark O'Leary has just released a new CD on Leo Records,Waiting, featuring Cuong Vu and Tom Rainey. The music of this album is a tribute to Samuel Beckett, the great Irish writer. The music is a mix of Jazz, Ambient, with some moments of acoustic chamber jazz. Mark has just been on tour in Sweden, Czech Republic and Belgium. Mark O'Leary was born in Cork City Ireland. Being mainly self thought on guitar he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to study at Musicians Institute, from where he later graduated. He has presented his music in over 20 different countries and has played at some of the worlds top Jazz festivals and contemporary Jazz venues. He has toured Europe as a member of Canadian Piano innovator Paul Bleys trio,he has performed in duo with Jack DeJohnette,in a jazz trio with Yes/King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford,with fretless bass virtuoso Michael Manring,composed and performed classical music with Cikada string quartet,collaborated in an all electronics setting with Sound Artist Gunter Muller,in a free improvisation combo with Sunny Murray,peroformed in concerts with Bobo Stenson,played Norwegian folk music with Nils Okland,Swedish folk music with Mats Eden,contemporary Jazz with Uri Caine,he has performed in seperate projects with trumpeters Tomasz Stanko,Kenny Wheeler and Cuong Vu. He has also performed with ex Weather Report/Jaco Pastorius Drummer Peter Erskine.He has also worked with the innovative percussionists z'ev, Alex Cline ,Hans Kristian Kjos Sorensen and Terje Isungset.He has also recorded and performed with Super Silent keyboardist Stale Storlokken. He has been critically acclaimed for his compositions and concerts with an a group comprising Steve Swallow and Pierre Favre. Marks music is the consumate eclectic mix of all of above.
