Jazzique at the St.Kitts Music Festival 2007

There is a new contender on the horizon for the title - King of the Caribbean jazz piano. Within the next few years this title could easily be bestowed on a young man who has been a core member of the vibrant St.Kitts and Nevis music scene for the past 15 years, as producer, arranger, band leader and studio keyboard wizard. Well it is time to introduce this young musical genius to the world.

The St. Kitts Music Festival Committee announced that local keyboard artiste, Jazzique, is the first act signed to represent the Jazz genre at the 2007 Festival. Jazzique, whose influences include Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Chick Corea and Ramsey Lewis, says he is at home with all shades of jazz, and this is demonstrated in his 2006 debut album "Queen-Sugar". In commenting on the Music Festival signing, the young performer said "it is such a great opportunity to perform at the St. Kitts Music Festival, I'm blessed that the Music Festival Committee will support young people like me. It is such support that will help me reach the region and the rest of the world."

Executive Director of the Festival, Mr Allister Williams says, "we are confident that Jazzique will represent the jazz genre well and our nation proudly. He is a tremendous addition to the line up and the audience will be captivated by his performance."

Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture, Ricky Skerritt, added, "Jazzique is a testament to the well known fact that St. Kitts & Nevis, and indeed the Caribbean, possess some of the world's most talented young musicians. The St. Kitts Music Festival takes seriously the task of promoting the region's musical prowess internationally."

The St. Kitts Music Festival is in its 11th year and is scheduled for June 21st to 24th 2007. The announcement of the signing of accomplished singer and songwriter Michael Bolton has already created a buzz of excitement.
