Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby in New York

Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby will hit NYC with their unique brand of mountain music, performing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien April 23rd, and hitting the stage of The Concert Hall the following night. The Grammy winning stars will be playing songs from their first ever collaborative album, 'Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby, ' out March 20 on Legacy. Backed by Ricky's ace band Kentucky Thunder, Skaggs and Hornsby will raise up a storm on both stages with their mix of high-harmonies, bluegrass strings and improvisational piano.

The album itself is a mix of reworked hits, traditional arrangements and originals written in collaboration for the project. Highlights include Hornsby original "Crown of Jewels, " the story of a beauty queen's fall from grace, traditional bluegrass arrangement "Across the Rocky Mountain, " and a reinvention of Hornsby hit "Mandolin Rain"; with a minor key arrangement that brings the bluegrass festival setting of the lyrics into sharp focus. The release of 'Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby' coincides with their highly successful CMT "Crossroads" special, which the duo taped in Nashville with Kentucky Thunder and Hornsby drummer Sonny Emory.
