Ken Peplowski Quartet at the Jazz Standard

March 15-18 Ken Peplowski Quartet (Ken Peplowski - clarinet, tenor saxophone; Bill Charlap - piano; Martin Wind - bass; Joe LaBarbara - drums) will play at the Jazz Standard, NYC. A masterful melodist with an effortless sense of swing, Ken Peplowski began his professional career with the Tommy Dorsey “ghost” orchestra and played with Benny Goodman.

But he's also recorded tunes by Ornette Coleman and the Beatles, and was accompanied by a symphony orchestra for his 1996 album The Other Portrait. This Jazz Standard engagement follows Memories of You, Ken's new release on the Tokuma (Japan) label, and features the superb pianist Bill Charlap and Ornette bassist Greg Cohen. The late Mel Torme said of Ken Peplowski: ”The man is magic!”
