| Carole King's 'Tapestry' Is #7 On ’Definitive 200’ Albums List The National Academy of Recording Merchandisers and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame unveiled their list of "The Definitive 200" yesterday - 200 albums that every music lover should own. Coming in at #7 on that list, and ranking higher than any other recording by a female artist, is Carole King's epoch-defining masterpiece, 'Tapestry.' Released in 1971, 'Tapestry' was an artistic and commercial event. Featuring instant King standards like "It's Too Late", "I Feel the Earth Move", and "So Far Away", the album won four Grammys, including Album of the Year, and has sold over 25 million copies to date worldwide. King reprised most of the songs from 'Tapestry' on her Living Room Tour in North America (2004 and 2005) and Australia/New Zealand (2006), and eight of those songs are included on her live album 'The Living Room Tour, ' released in 2005 on King's own Rockingale Records. In other Carole King news, her critically-acclaimed 2001 album 'Love Makes the World' is set to be released in a Deluxe Edition May 8, also on Rockingale Records. This special set will include a bonus enhanced CD with over 40 minutes of additional material, including five songs, two music videos, a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of the album, and a video interview with King. Also featured will be a duet with her daughter,Louise Goffin on "Where You Lead, I Will Follow, " which is the theme to CW's Gilmore Girls. The song's lyrics were updated (to fit a mother and daughter) from the original version of the song "Where You Lead, " which appeared on 'Tapestry.' write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
