Sixth City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival

The world of Jazz converges on the city for the sixth annual City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival from Thursday 3rd May to Sunday 6th May. There's something for everyone with a diverse range of musicians from around the globe to satisfy the musical taste of jazz devotees and newcomers alike.

Local, national and international artists will set the city on fire with a scorching blend of Jazz, Swing and Jump Jive, Blues, Salsa, Big Band, Bluegrass, Indie and Dance.

Let the music thrill you as the city is brought to its feet with some of the hottest sounds anywhere. Highlights this year include the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the diva of soul and gospel Ruby Turner; the outstanding Extraordinaires and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys. From Australia there's The Bamboos, Claire Sproule, Henry McCullough and Siobhan Pettit. From Norway Bodil Niska, Louis Stewart and The Jazz Cotech Dancers 'Jazz meets Dance' plus so much more.

This year's event is a real feast for the senses. Join the Guinness Free Jazz Trail and soak up high quality entertainment FREE during the festival. Visit the Nerve Centre and enjoy a series of Free Jazz Festival Films featuring classic performances from some of the world's jazz supremos as well as feature length documentaries charting the life and achievements of some of the biggest names in Jazz music history. Making a welcome return is the Festival Club at the City Hotel. This is a chance to relax and enjoy some of the most exquisite sounds to be found anywhere - the perfect end to a busy day!
