| Giuseppe Grifeo in Chicago Italian Jazz Pianist Giuseppe Grifeo has two upcoming concerts in Chicago on March 21st (Chicago Cultural Center) and on March 23rd (Elastic Arts Foundation). Ferrari Studios presents Giuseppe Grifeo's first concerts in Chicago and the United States, and invites you to attend these extraordinary and powerful performances that will take you on a journey through cultures and emotions. Giuseppe's approach to playing the piano is characterized by a Mediterranean and Arabic color. He is amongst the few who study the use of the piano in classical and traditional Arabic music (for his research he visited and played in musical festivals in Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco). Born in Palermo Italy, he currently teaches piano jazz, improvisation and history of music at the Music School of Pavia, Italy. He also composes music for theatre and film productions in Italy and USA. Giuseppe Grifeo's performances in Chicago will be a meeting and mixture between creative jazz, Mediterranean and Arabian music. He will be combining compositions from his CD entitled A Quite Place in the Universe (1997), a piano story based on the magical and mystical compositions of the extraordinary musician Sun Ra, with his latest CD entitled Che Vi Sia Pace (2006) containing original and rare Arabic arrangements that evoke passion and drama. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
