| The Burning Blues Band in a Celebration of St. Patrick's Day by Joe McGaha The Burning Blues Band will perform live with bands Horny Toad, Meet Me at The Pub and Rum Boogie at the Westchester Sports Bar in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 17, 2007 in a multi-cultural celebration of St. Patrick's Day. "This is an exciting time for us", says Scott "Harpin" Hostert, harmonica player for The Burning Blues Band. "We recently won the Shift 2 Nissan Battle of the Bands, and things just keep getting better. One of those overnight success stories that was ten years in the making." Formed in 1997 in Yorba Linda, California under the original name The Barnburners Blues Band, The Burning Blues Band has performed in major venues across Southern California including The Coach House (San Juan Capistrano), The Galaxy Theater (Santa Ana), B.B. King's (Universal City), and many more. Known for their high-energy performances, the band has performed on the same bill with many Blues artists including Greg Serrato, Finis Tasby, Robben Ford, Teresa Russell & Cocobilli, BB Chung King & The Buddha Heads, etc . The band has performed in music festivals throughout Southern California, everywhere from Solvang to San Diego. You can find The Burning Blues Band recordings on radio stations throughout the United States, as well as in Europe and Latin America. The band recently finalized a c.d. of original music entitled "My Lonely Heart". The Burning Blues Band (under the name The Barnburners) performed at the first annual OC New Year's Eve Celebration, sharing the stage with artists Sugar Ray, Lit, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, and the Psychedelic Furs, among many others. On February 18, 2007, The Burning Blues Band won the Orange County round of the Shift 2 Nissan Battle of the Bands at Wild Rivers in Irvine, California. The band consists of: "Lucky" Scott Hudson – bass guitar - Lucky has been playing bass since the '80's, and has played everything from Reggae to Metal, and finally came to his true calling - the Blues, baby! Eddie "Blue Note" Taska – rhythm & lead guitar - Eddie has a background in classical guitar, and has performed for audiences throughout the United States, as well as in Canada. Eddie brings a special feel to our sound, and the audience loves every note! Scott "Harpin" Hostert – harmonica - Influenced by the likes of James Cotton, Junior Wells, & Howlin Wolf, Scott picked up his first harmonica when he was 18. From there it was love at first blow. Intrigued with the portability of the instrument he began to play it to the radio on his long work commutes from Orange County to Long Beach. He's been playing ever since! His explosive energy on stage combined with his laid back demeanor make for a dynamic musical experience. "Cleanhead" Joe McGaha – vocals - Joe started out singing in a Reggae band in the late '80's, and since then, has done everything from Classic Rock to Punk Rock (he had a long stretch in the Inland Empire Punk band Bűkket), and finally, the Blues chose him! When he's not busy performing with Burning Blues, The Voice writes music reviews for Live Magazine (in Orange County, California), and Indy Rock (in Granada, Spain). Graham Green - drums - Graham has been playing his drum kit since the fifth grade. Then as now, music is simply life. Graham is influenced by many genres, but after years of rock bands and studio work, it's the Blues that best captures the heart and soul of his music. He brings to Burning Blues energy honed in Rock, and maintained by the excitement of continuing to grow musically. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Jazz News :: home page |
