Yotam Rosenbaum's 'Balance'

Award-winning composer and drummer Yotam Rosenbaum releases a new record that is poised to reignite the popularity of American jazz music. Joined by Grammy Award Winner Dave Samuels (Spyro Gyra, Pat Metheny, Frank Zappa) on vibraphone, Grammy Award Winner Mads Tolling (Turtle Island String Quartet, Stanley Clarke) on violin, Vadim Neselovskyi (Gary Burton) on piano and Mike Oien on bass, Rosenbaum features eight new compositions in his new release, titled Balance.

Balance has already received critical acclaim from artists and fans alike. World-renowned saxophonist Joe Lovano describes the record as "a beautiful flow of ideas, very personal and rich with musical scope and sound… Bravo!", while CD Baby raves that Rosenbaum brings "a new standard of accessibility to jazz without losing a shred of integrity and compositional elegance…this is one of the most creative and wide-eyed modern jazz albums we've seen."

The wide musical range of Balance is a reflection of Rosenbaum's unique musical and personal background. Born and raised in Israel, Rosenbaum is the youngest of four brothers, all musicians themselves, and was exposed to both classical and jazz music from birth. His youth was spent studying piano, drums and trumpet. Upon completion of his military service, he studied at the Israeli Rimon School of Music before relocating to the U.S. to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music, graduating magna cum laude.

"My goal with this recording was to make exciting music that would be appreciated not only by jazz experts, but also by the novice listeners", says Rosenbaum, who composed, arranged and produced all eight tracks on "Balance." From the great response to his music thus far, it is clear that he has succeeded in both pushing the jazz envelope and sustaining its simplicity. It is no surprise that the first track on Balance won him the prestigious ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award.
