Marcus Goldhaber's New CD

After a successful album release party on September 18th, 2006 at the Back Room Bar in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, there has been an outpouring of support and acceptance for Marcus Goldhaber and his debut album, The Moment After. This record represents straight-ahead jazz that comfortably mixes the old with the new, highlighting simple melodies and a classic quartet sound. Based on the response, this approach is apparently something the New York jazz scene appreciates, and has been missing.

On The Moment After, Marcus teams up with the Jon Davis Trio and accesses an intimacy with which any listener can find comfort. Marcus credits his vocal style to his late grandfather and also to his mother's unique musical phrasing on the piano. Therefore, Marcus released The Moment After on his very own, aptly titled label, Fallen Apple Records, reflecting on the old adage: "The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree..."

Since the CD's release, Marcus has been invited into many landmark New York City venues, including The Friars Club, The Carnagie Club, and most recently, The Hotel Benjamin, where he was the featured act for the first two weekends of this month. Here, the crowd remained enthralled by the soothing vibe of Goldhaber's performance, combined with the relaxing lounge setting of this high class, upscale environment - and their infamous baby grand piano.
