| The Music Box readers' favorites for 2006 Popular magazine The Music Box has released the ranking of its readers' favorites for 2006. Topping the list is John Mayer's Continuum, which also ranked #1 on the publication's list of top albums for the fourth quarter. Trailing the effort were Van Morrison's Pay the Devil, T Bone Burnett's The True False Identity, and the self-titled debut by Norah Jones' side-project The Little Willies. Said Music Box founder John Metzger, "Our year-end compilation is always fascinating to me. While some albums enjoy a lot of success during the quarter in which they are released, our compilation of the statistics for the full year highlights which albums gained the most traction and had the most durability." These rankings are compiled from sales and traffic statistics through The Music Box's web site. The Music Box, which just began its 14th year of operation, covers a wide array of music, including blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, folk, and the many configurations of rock 'n' roll. Subscribers to The Music Box's e-mail list and regular visitors to its web site are treated to reviews of the latest albums, DVDs, movies, books, and concerts as well as in-depth interviews and articles, daily music news, and concert listings. In addition, members of its e-mail list are eligible to win a variety of items. This month's giveaways include prize packages from Crowded House and the Langerado Music Festival. Each year, several million guests visit the site, which recently surpassed 3, 400 pages of information.
