Firehouse 12 to Launch New Label in 2007

Firehouse 12 from New Haven will start issuing a mix of physical and digital-only recordings under the banner of its new label, Firehouse 12 Records. Co-founded by Firehouse 12's owner/resident recording engineer Nick Lloyd and acclaimed cornetist/composer Taylor Ho Bynum, the label was created to "capture creative music in its native environment."

Its first two physical releases, scheduled for April 3rd, will be a nine-CD-plus-one-DVD box set documenting the Anthony Braxton 12+1tet's four-night stand at New York's Iridium Jazz Club in March 2006 and the debut release from Bynum's working sextet. The label also plans to release digital downloads of live performances recorded during its 2006 Fall Jazz Series.
