Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday with Take 6

Cuyahoga Community College will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the College's 30th annual observance of his birthday. This year's program theme, "Celebrate the Dream of a King", will feature a free concert with the renowned musical group Take 6 and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday, January 14, 2007 in the Metropolitan Campus Auditorium (2900 Community College Avenue).

Take 6 is an influential a cappella gospel music sextet formed in 1985. The group created its own recording label this year and has issued the release, Feels Good. Opening with the joyous "Come On", Feels Good runs through a collection of mostly original material that makes the disc Take 6's strongest release in more than a decade. The group has won numerous Grammy awards during its career, and has toured with superstars including Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder.

Special guest conductor Mitchell Arnold will lead the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, a full symphony orchestra now marking its 67th year. The Ivy-Cheston Duo, an energetic, soul-stirring group, will also perform utilizing the full texture of two pianos. The Orchestra recently expanded its focus to provide musicians of all ages and professions a means of learning and performing symphonic music.
