| 13 Blues Music Award Nominations for Alligator Artists The Blues Foundation today announced the nominees for the 2007 Blues Music Awards. Seven Alligator recording artists received a total of 13 nominations. Chicago blues legend Lil' Ed Williams and his band The Blues Imperials received a total of three nominations (including nods for the coveted Entertainer of the Year and Band of the Year awards). Guitar Shorty also picked up three nominations. Acoustic blues duo Cephas & Wiggins and Austin-based pianist Marcia Ball each received two. Eric Lindell, Shemekia Copeland, and Siegel-Schwall Band drummer Sam Lay each received one nomination. The Blues Music Awards ceremony and concert will be held May 10, 2007 at the Cook Convention Center in downtown Memphis. Alligator artists and nominations are as follows: LIL' ED AND THE BLUES IMPERIALS - B.B. King Entertainer of the Year (Lil' Ed Williams); Band of the Year (Lil' Ed and The Blues Imperials); Song of the year - Icicles In My Meatloaf, from Rattleshake. GUITAR SHORTY - Contemporary Blues Album of the Year: We The People;Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year; Instrumentalist of the Year - Guitar. MARCIA BALL - Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year; Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year. CEPHAS & WIGGINS - Acoustic Album of the Year: Shoulder To Shoulder; Acoustic Artist of the Year. SHEMEKIA COPELAND - Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year. ERIC LINDELL - Best New Artist Debut: Change In The Weather.
