Tye Tribbett & G.A. - Three Grammy Nominations

Columbia Records gospel artists Tye Tribbett & G.A. have generated three Grammy nominations from the strength of the group's latest collection, the #1 gospel album Victory Live!

Tye Tribbett and G.A. are in the running for the following Grammys: Best Gospel Performance (for "Victory", from Victory Live!); Best Gospel Song (for "Victory", from Victory Live!); and Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album (for Victory Live!).

Nominations for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards were announced in Los Angeles Thursday, December 7 by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 11, 2007, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS.

The Grammy nominations are the latest in a series of accolades for Tye Tribbett and G.A. and Victory Live!, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Current Gospel Sales chart and hit #64 on the Top 200 bestselling albums chart, in June 2006.

In October 2006, Tribbett and his gospel choir picked up six nominations for the 22nd Annual Stellar Awards including Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, CD of the Year, Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, and Urban/Inspirational Single/Performance of the Year (for "Victory", from Victory Live!).

Tye Tribbett will co-host, and perform at, the 22nd Annual Stellar Awards ceremony in Nashville, at the fabled Grand Ole Opry House, on January 13, 2007.

Recorded on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Philadelphia's Deliverance Evangelistic Church, Victory Live captures the group's passionate gospel performance in all its praise-worthy spirit-filled glory. Tye Tribbett and G.A. shared the power of their electrifying soul-stirring new gospel sounds with their fans in Philly and were joined by the biggest stars in gospel music including Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell and Israel Houghton.

Born in Camden, New Jersey, Tye Tribbett is the son of two preachers ... both his mother and father wore the cloth. Growing up surrounded by hymns and gospel music, Tye learned to make music at an early age. "I've been playing all my life", he explains. "Before I knew my ABC's, I knew the ABC's on the keys." As a teenager, he honed his skills as a keyboardist by accompanying such regional notables as Steve Middleton and the Tri-State Mass Choir of the Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Seminar.

In 1996, Tye founded a gospel choir, Greater Anointing (G.A.), consisting of a group of friends whose hearts were set simply on praising the Creator through the gift of great music. Tye knew from the beginning they'd tapped into something real and glorious. "That first rehearsal blew my mind", he says. "The musicianship, the quality of the voices and the spirit of the choir, the character of everybody ... I knew that this was it. I knew that this is what I was supposed to be doing."

Released in 2004, Life, the debut album from Tye Tribbett and GA reached the #6 spot on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.
