| Murray Weinstock: Music And Dogs Singer, songwriter and dog lover Murray Weinstock, whose dog-inspired Tails of the City - Dog Songs from a dog's point of view! CD has been featured on NPR's All Things Considered, will be performing "Recipe of Love" with animal activist and Broadway star, Nellie McKay to kick off the fourth annual Gingerbread Homes For Animals event on Friday, December 8th Weinstock, a fixture in the New York City music scene whose work includes collaborations with Manhattan Transfer, John Sebastian, Richie Havens and Don Covay is following up Tails of the City with another CD of dog songs, as well as a CD of cat-inspired songs. The Best Friends Animal Society, a Utah based animal rescue facility whose grounds consist of 3000 acres is using two songs, Bad Dog and My Buddy from Tails of the City, as well as the title song of the upcoming Cat CD, Jazz Cats, in a TV special entitled "Best Friends For Life." The show begins airing December 26 nationally. McKay, a renaissance woman whose talents excel as a singer, songwriter, pianist, actress and stand-up comedian is well known and loved in animal circles for her dedication to animal rights. Her CD Get Away From Me demonstrates a full spectrum of torch songs, rap (her style) political songs, and sometimes a lounge style sung in a voice reminiscent of Jerri Southern.
