| Jazz At Lincoln Center: Cubana Be Cubana Bop The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra with Arturo O'Farrill will celebrate Latin jazz, the fusion of Latin rhythms and American jazz, by performing the works of the art form's legendary innovators Machito and Dizzy Gillespie in a concert entitled Cubana Be Cubana Bop. Cubana Be Cubana Bop will take place on Friday & Saturday, January 12 & 13 at Frederick P. Rose Hall on Broadway at 60th St. in New York. Jazz at Lincoln Center continues a history of commemorating Latin jazz music with Cubana Be Cubana Bop. Including George Russell's "Cubano Be, Cubano Bop", originally performed by Dizzy Gillespie, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra is scheduled to perform "Manteca" and "Tin Tin Deo" some of Gillespie's most famous contributions to Afro-Cuban music. The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra is composed of 18 soloists who play classics of the Afro-Latin tradition.
