Garvy J. at Anaheim's House of Blues

Garvy J., an up and coming post pop rock artist and band, has signed on to open for the Goo Goo Dolls New Year's Eve show at Anaheim's House of Blues. After a year of touring throughout Europe, this event marks Garvy J.'s west coast debut. In line with the Goo Goo Dolls Fans For Peace, Garvy J. will be adding a new dimension in support of the Goo Goo Dolls' cause this New Year's with his powerfully provocative song, "War is over ...Again."

Garvy J., the charismatic mastermind of Boston's 90s-era cult band, The Elevator Drops (Arista/BMG), is focusing his singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist talents to cultivate a dynamic electro-acoustic post pop sound. His music invokes the slightly abstract nature of the Elevator Drops but more mellow and focused more upon social issues in a global context rather than strictly personal, as evidenced on his release "What If It All Works Out?".

"What if it all Works Out?", Garvy J.'s latest recording, is the result of an evolution that began with The Elevator Drops, a 90s glam rock band, and more recent collaborations with Matt Sharp, ex-Weezer and The Rentals front Man. The multi-mood composition is full of surprises and takes you through an up and down journey that works out in the end.

Garvy J. collaborators included engineer/mixer Paul Hager (The Goo Goo Dolls, The Donnas, Avril Lavinge, Pink), producer/engineer Josh Hager (The Elevator Drops, Maxi Geil, Matt Sharp, Tracy Bonham), producer Paul Kolderine (Radiohead, Hole, Dinosaur Junior) and producer/engineer Thom Flowers (the Ataris). This collaboration resulted in "What if it All Works Out?", an unpredictable, haunting, sonic recording that Daniel Lanois expressed interest in including on his new compilation CD, scheduled for release on Aeria Records in 2007.

Garvy J., initially signed to the independent Boston label, Curve of the Earth, which recorded several new artists, including a young Tracy Bonham and Powerman 5000, is a singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He produced The Elevator Drops singles, signed to Artista Records, and toured with bands like Blur, Pulp, Garbage, Echo and The Bunnymen, and The Rentals.

Following Garvy J.'s role within The Elevator Drops (Arista/BMG) which dissolved in 1999 due to one band member's illness, he joined The Rentals on a tour of Japan and France, subsequently recording Sharp's debut solo album in Nashville. More recently Garvy J. joined Adam Green, playing guitar in Adam Green's 2006 European tour and is now currently recording songs for his upcoming release. As a resident of Los Angeles and New York, his compositional style is most noted for its kaleidoscope of influences from pop, folk, country, blues, indie rock and ambient/techno to create an electro-acoustic post pop sound and style.
