| Kenny G's New Album Debuts at #1 on Charts Kenny G's 17th album for Arista Records, 'I'm In The Mood For Love...the Most Romantic Melodies Of All Time' debuts today at the #1 spot on the "Current Overall Jazz Chart" and "Contemporary Jazz Chart" and enters the Billboard Top 200 chart at #37, scanning 32, 282 units. This is Kenny's #12th album to hold the #1 position on the Contemporary Jazz Chart, more #1s than any other artist on the chart, and is his 14th album to chart on the Billboard Top 200 within the top 40 slots. On 'I'm In The Mood For Love...the Most Romantic Melodies Of All Time, the world's most renowned soprano saxophone stylist lends his instrumental craft, for the first time, to an entire program of romantic songs featuring several of today's most recent chart hits: "If I Ain't Got You" (Alicia Keys), "You're Beautiful" (James Blunt), the first radio single from the album, and "You Raise Me Up" (Josh Groban). Kenny's choices also pay homage to the great 20th century American Songbook, from "The Way You Look Tonight" and "I'm In The Mood For Love", to Bread's "If" and Barbra Streisand's "The Way We Were" (find complete track listing below). 'I'm In The Mood For Love...the Most Romantic Melodies Of All Time finds Kenny working once again with his longtime collaborator, producer, arranger and keyboardist Walter Afanasieff (whose credits include Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, and many others). 'I'm In The Mood For Love...the Most Romantic Melodies Of All Time, follows up Kenny G's last year's indispensable collection of seasonal tunes, 'The Greatest Holiday Classics, ' his fourth holiday best-seller. Prior to that in 2004, Kenny released the RIAA gold 'At Last...The Duets Album, ' on which he was joined by such stellar vocalists and fellow instrumentalists as Barbra Streisand, LeAnn Rimes, Gladys Knight, Earth Wind & Fire, Yolanda Adams, Chaka Khan, Burt Bacharach, and Arturo Sandoval. Both albums rose to #1 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz chart, and both were top 30 R&B and top 40 pop crossover successes. Kenny G is a Grammy award-winning artist, with cumulative international and domestic sales of over 70 million albums and eight #1 albums. He has recorded the best selling instrumental album of all time Breathless) and the best selling holiday album ever (Miracles), all accomplished through a twenty-year career as an Arista recording artist. It is Kenny G's innate ability to create and set different moods with his music that has made him such an enduring force and earned him Grammy, American Music, Soul Train, World Music and NAACP Image Awards as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
