Author and producer Carol Friedman is a New York portrait photographer and creative director who specializes in portraits of people in the arts. She has been widely published in books and magazines here and abroad. A music lover above all else, her classic photographs of recording artists appear on hundreds of jazz, soul, and classical CD covers. Her first children's book, Nicky The Jazz Cat, which celebrates the magic of jazz and her cat Nicky's encounters with his real life jazz musician friends led to a series of Nicky books and music that have won the Benjamin Franklin Book Award, iParenting Book and Music Award, Parents' Choice Silver Music Award, NAPPA Book Award, and The American Library Association's Notable Children's Recording award. She has recently partnered with powerHouse Books and will publish several titles with them in 2007 and 2008.
