| Shayna Steele at Joe's Pub R&B singer and songwriter Shayna Steele performs with her band at New York's famed Joe's Pub on Monday, November 27. Steele has recently been selected as UBL's Ultimate Band Semi-Finalist. Chosen from a pool of thousands, UBL has selected 120 semi-finalists grouped into various genres including Blues, Country, Rock, Latin, Hip Hop, R&B, Electronica, World, Jazz and Editor's Choice. Steele is one among 10 semi-finalists in the R&B/Soul category. Shayna has been steadily climbing up UBL's Ultimate Top 100 Chart. She's currently at number 9 and one of only two in the R&B category in the top ten. In just two years on the New York soul scene, Shayna Steele has created a category of her own. A world-class vocalist, Shayna was an original cast member of the Broadway hit musical RENT. She has appeared on the Grammy Awards, Late Night with David Letterman, the Today Show, Conan O'Brien, and the Tony Awards among others. As a writer, her love and life experiences are woven into songs that move your body and your mind. Add to that an 11-piece band with musicians from the bands of Beyonce to Justin Timberlake to Dr. Dre to the Lincoln Center Jazz and Latin Jazz Orchestras - and you have a powerhouse combination that has the industry buzzing. The demand for her voice has led to recordings this year with MOBY and David Liang (Carl Thomas). Her current songwriting collaboration with David Cook, keyboardist/musical director/writer-arranger for NSYNC, American Idol, Becky Baeling and JC Chasez, has resulted in her self-titled EP, with songs about being done right and done wrong.
