Suzana Da Camara Tours British Columbia

Suzana Da Camara, (pronounced Cam-a-ra) accompanied by Mike Dell on guitar and piano, introduces an exotic style with songs in English, Portuguese (with a Brazilian feel) and French. This cosmopolitan duo will keep you moved in all directions from melancholy tones, popular jazz to infectious gypsy guitar rhythms that will get your feet tapping. After performing in Vancouver June 2006, Suzana da Camara is back for her first B.C. Tour in November. After June's performance in Vancouver, the demand was overwhelming. Now, you can see Suzana da Camara and her guitarist Mike Dell at various venues this November. Embracing her Portuguese roots, French studies and her English up-bringing in Penticton, B.C., Suzana da Camara is excited to come back to her childhood province.

Suzana discovered her singing voice in the garden-like setting of the Azores Islands – where her family roots grow deep. The Portuguese culture and music have been a major influence on the Canadian-born Suzana. Upon winning a vocal competition in the Azores, a resident radio announcer encouraged her to go into the recording studio.

Suzana enrolled in the Music Industry Arts Program and Fanshawe College where she was nominated twice for Best Performance. She paired her lyric and vocal talents with the musical arrangements of Mike Dell and the Suzana Da Camara project was born.

Two albums later, Suzana and co-writer/guitarist Mike returned to the studio under the guidance of legendary Canadian producer, Jack Richardson (The Guess Who, Bob Seger and Alice Cooper).

Jack produced Suzana's third self-titled album "Suzanna Da Camara", nominated by the Music and Film in Motion's 2005 Awards for Best Album (Suzana Da Camara) and Best Song (Searching Deep Down). The Album was also one of the Top Ten Albums of 2005 by the program "Fresh Air" on CBC Radio Canada.

Suzana was also included on the jazz remix album "Rosemount Wine & Song". A jazz remix album released by Koch Records for Rosemount Wines. Other songs include remixes of Norah Jones, De-Phazz, Sarah Vaughn, Moby, St. Germain and more.

In Asia, Japan's Jazz radio station Yellow Beat selected Suzana and her song "Cha Cha" as their Feature Artist and Feature Song for the month of August 2005. "Cha Cha" is also featured in "Oto Gumi", Japan's first DVD magazine for car audio lovers, which is slated for a March 2006 release.

Suzana self-titled album can now be found on music store shelves across Asia. The CD was released in Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in January 2006.

Suzana sings in English, Portuguese and French. She explores themes of love, relationships and life under an umbrella of jazzy piano arrangements, sweet acoustic guitar melodies and infectious bossa nova rhythms.

Suzana has an unselfish concern for the welfare of others ... she won the Mary Ann Darling Award for volunteer work raising Christmas funds for under-privileged families; taught English to children in Lisbon Portugal; and following in her Mother's footsteps, is involved with global charities.
