| Gerald Levert dies at 40 Grammy-nominated R&B star Gerald Levert has died of heart attack Friday (November 10) at his home in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 40. Over the course of a 20-year career, Gerald Levert achieved celebrated status as one of contemporary soul's most accomplished singers and songwriters. He not only recorded a string of acclaimed Gold and Platinum albums, but he also performed with, and produced, some of R&B and soul's most recognized names, including Barry White, Stephanie Mills, Teddy Pendergrass, the Winans and Patti LaBelle among many others.
