| Jeff Perry: ’Wonderful World’ The new CD Wonderful World features jazz guitarist Jeff Perry and a lineup including some of Minnesota's top musicians: Mary Louise Knutson (piano), Gordy Johnson (bass), Phil Hey (drums) and Doug Little (sax). Wonderful World takes us back in time with standards like "What a Wonderful World, " gives us spacious renditions of cool jazz pieces like Wayne Shorter's "Footprints, " and showcases his "hip retooling" (critic Tom Surowitz) of unexpected songs like Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" and Sting's "Wrapped Around Your Finger." Guitarist Jeff Perry has attended top music schools including Berklee College of Music in Boston and the American Conservatory in Chicago. His compositional skills have been praised by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and by jazz legend and Grammy winner Dave Holland. He has played for US Senators, Fortune 500 CEOs and the Mayor of Chicago. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
