One-woman theatrical act to perform for parents & students

As a service to the community, Ogdensburg City School brings Susie Vanderlip's "Legacy of Hope" to Ogdensburg on the evening of November 8th and during the school day on Thursday, November 9th.

Vanderlip is a one-woman theatrical assembly designed to educate and motivate teens and parents on social problems. Vanderlip portrays characters from alcoholic, addicted, abusive or neglectful homes. Her characters depict families and teens coping with issues such as alcohol and drug abuse, gangs, teen pregnancy, domestic violence, self-harm, grief, depression, eating disorders and AIDS.

Since 1991, Vanderlip has presented "Legacy of Hope" to nearly one million youth and adults in 47 states, Canada and Europe. She has also been the keynote conference speaker for organizations such as The Betty Ford Center, National Boys and Girls Clubs, MADD, crime prevention officers associations and thousands of middle schools, high schools, colleges and churches.

In addition to her speaking skills, Vanderlip has more than 30 years of professional modern, jazz and hip-hop dance performance, choreographic and teaching experience. She is the author of the book, "52 Ways to Protect Your Teen … Guiding Teens to Good Choices and Success, " a guide to parents, teachers and other adults who care about kids.

The "Legacy of Hope" presentation in Ogdensburg will offer a program free to the community at Ogdensburg Free Academy on Wednesday evening, Nov 8th. She will do a staff development program for counselors on Thursday at the SUNY Potsdam campus.
