Arvel Bird at Unity of Phoenix

Award-winning fiddlist, flutist and storyteller, Arvel Bird and his band, One Nation, are joining forces with popular valley Native flutist, Saggio and well-known Potawatomi elder, Gary Bibb, to celebrate National American Indian Heritage Month with a concert at the Unity of Phoenix Church, Phoenix, Arizona, November 17th.

The concert is the first in the Valley featuring the Arvel Bird and One Nation Band. Singing Wolf Records will be using the event to release the Band's new CD in Arizona. The Band is a multi-cultural group, writing and performing original music to reflect the blend of Native American, Celtic, and European. Bird is a classically trained violinist, who recently took home the coveted Native American Music Award for Best Instrumental for his Arvel Bird LIVE! CD and the Indian Summer Museum Award in the Contemporary Instrumental category for his latest solo recording, Animal Totems 2. A popular entertainer, Bird performs and records in a number of diverse genres including blues, jazz, bluegrass, Celtic and contemporary Native music which gives him a continually fresh, unique sound making him one of the most in-demand Native recording artists on tour.

One Nation Band includes traditional Native American percussionist, John LoneEagle (Cherokee/ Apache), and guitarist, Vlasis (Greek). Together they join keyboardist / vocalist Chris James (Irish), Bird's co-writer on Animal Totems and Animal Totems 2. Arvel Bird and One Nation have recorded their debut CD and are planning to release it at the Colorado Concerts.
