| Lucerne Blues Festival ![]() The 12th edition of the Lucerne Blues Festival, taking place from November 3 to 12, 2006, will come up with several names which haven't been to Lucerne before. Many Blues fans will be pleased in particular about the artists, who will perform for the first time in Europe (Little Sonny, Daniel "Slick" Ballinger - see photo). The main purpose of the organizing association "Lucerne Blues Festival" is to promote and support the Blues music, written down in the association's statutes. "With our programs we have surely contributed to the spreading of the Blues music", says president Guido Schmidt. "However we will now take another step dedicating ourselves to the promotion of less-known or new bands by giving them the chance to perform before a competent audience." This innovation is called "Blues Support Stage". On Friday and Saturday night, two bands surely earning a broader audience due to their quality will perform at Grand Casino's Casineum. Initiating Blues Support Stage, this year is Blues Rooster (Friday) and Bluecerne (Saturday). Furthermore, the program also includes "Blues at school". Musicians will visit Reussbuehl highschool, thus enabling students to become more familiar with blues culture. As in the past years, the festival will again start with a free concert at the Flora Hotel in Lucerne (Friday, 11/03/2006, with Diunna Greenleaf & Blue Mercy). The festival opening at the Grand Casino in Lucerne (Wednesday, 11/08/2006, in the Casineum with The Chicago All Star Band) is for free as well. The very successful Blues Brunches are, of course, still part of the program. On Sunday, 11/05/2006, the concert of the first brunch at the Seeburg Hotel will be given by Howard Tate, the second brunch on Sunday, 11/12/2006, at the Schweizerhof Hotel will bring up Diunna Greenleaf & Blue Mercy. Due to the big interest and limited number of seats, an early reservation at the respective hotel is highly recommended. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
