| Nigel Mooney at The Sugar Club, Dublin Wicklow Delta Jazz & Blues guitarist Nigel Mooney has assembled a hot, swinging horn–driven ensemble from the cream of the Irish jazz scene. The new line up will makes its live debut at Dublin's The Sugar Club on Thursday 2nd November. The band is: Nigel Mooney – Guitar & Vocals; Danny Healy – Trumpet (Black Magic Big Band / The Commitments); Richie Buckley – Tenor Saxophone (Van Morrison / Freddie Hubbard); Karl Rooney – Tenor Saxophone (The Four Tops / Katie Melua); Johnny Taylor – Piano (Russell Malone / West Coast Big Band); Damian Evans – Bass (Sharon Shannon /Danny Moss);Guy Rickaby – Drums (Van Morrison / Rodger Daltrey). A stalwart of the Irish jazz and blues scene for over twenty years, Nigel Mooney is an internationally recognized artist famed for his warm guitar technique and unique vocal delivery. His debut album 'All My Love's In Vain' was released by Rubyworks Records in 2005, and has enjoyed critical support from his many fans in the Irish media, including Ryan Tubridy, John Kelly, Pat Kenny and John Creedon. Reading like a "who's who" of Irish jazz and blues – this is a line up to die for, especially put together by Nigel for this concert; showcasing a potent cocktail of Mooney originals and rockin' covers celebrating over fifty years of jazz and blues. Stepping up from his usual lean, mean quartet to this powerhouse locomotive septet; fans of Nigel's idiosyncratic blending of Ray Charles' gift for melody, Willie Dixon's down 'n' dirty blues and Wes Montgomery's nimble finger picking are in for a full blown, runaway train treat.
