| Howard Camm Plays Keith Jarrett UK jazz maestro Howard Camm to play a blend of contemporary and improvisation music inspired by and dedicated to the legendary American pianist & composer Keith Jarrett at The Customs House, South Shields, North East England on Thursday 2nd November 2006. The occasion holds extra significance, as it marks the world premiere of Camm's latest jazz composition entitled Glitterance. Howard is a classically trained pianist who has made Jazz his stomping ground; he ventures into a creative territory that can only produce an explosive calibre of music. Howard believes that 'music should go as quickly as it comes', a philosophy he shares with Keith Jarrett and one that he uses to the full, which keeps his ideas fresh and his vision sharp. The music that inspires Howard enables him to craft a balanced performance; he's developed an approach and style in-keeping with the current image of contemporary Jazz. Howard interprets a Jazz musician as having a determined focus with an eclectic musical taste. He swapped a professional life in classical circles to crossover into Jazz; going from one genre where everything is written down in quite military fashion - to one where experimental freedom is encouraged. "Jazz has been an antidote to the classical dots on the page that I experienced in the early stages of my professional music education", said Howard Camm. Howard wants people to learn and understand what he's all about, through experiencing his live improvisation stage performance, as he believes the element of improvisation is an integral part of the creative process. He adds: "It's important for me to say something about life experience through my music, to communicate myself much like the way Keith Jarrett went about his work. The transitory nature of Jazz is a definite force in my approach to music." write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
