The Fader Turns Japanese

The Fader magazine, the definitive voice of emerging music, today announced the launch of Fader Japan. This comes on the heels of the announcement that The Fader was the first magazine to be made available in its entirety on iTunes.

The new magazine will be issued six times a year and will be distributed through a licensing deal with Blues Interaction, Inc., a Japanese publishing company.

The first issue of the international edition is a compilation of some of the best features from 2006, offering a primer for the Japanese audience, including profiles of Lupe Fiasco and Cat Power. Future issues will contain a combination of past Fader articles and original features on emerging Japanese music and culture.

"In launching an international edition we wanted to ensure that it remained true to our mission of discovery and uncovering the best in music, " says Andy Cohn, Publisher of The Fader. "Our partners really hit a homerun with the new issue and we couldn't be happier."

Cohn added, "While this is our first foray overseas, we are aggressively seeking out additional expansion and will be making announcements in the near future. The Fader brand stands for what's next in music, style and culture, and based on eight strong years of putting the spotlight on 'what's next, ' we know that this is a proven model that will translate around the world."

Founded by Rob Stone and Jon Cohen in 1998, The Fader magazine is the definitive voice of emerging music and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Through in-depth reporting and a distinct street sensibility, The Fader aggressively covers the most dynamic breadth of music and style emanating from the fringes of the mainstream to the heart of the underground. The FADER is the authority on what's next.
