| 2006 Catalina Island Blues Festival The 2006 Catalina Island Blues Festival kicks off this Friday. Music devotees can expect winning performances, September 29 - October 1, in a tribute to veteran Blues/rocker Spencer Davis, a resident of Avalon who still tours the world performing with the Spencer Davis Group. Friday, September 29 is the Avalon Blues Walk, featuring The Shelle Blues Band, Len Rainey & Friends, and "Lady Star and Bustin' Loose Blues Band, " who will be appearing at Luau Larry's, The Chi-Chi Club, and Flip's, three of Avalon's hottest clubs. Saturday, September 30: In the afternoon, a Blues Band performs at the Wrigley Stage, with NO COVER. That evening, Spencer Davis headlines at the Casino, with special guests Bobby Kimball from TOTO, Denny Laine from the Moody Blues & Wings, Gregg Wright from the Spencer Davis Group and The Michael Jackson Victory Tour. Chicago-bred Roger Connelly & The Blues Merchants will open the show. Sunday afternoon, October 1, performances will be held outdoors on the beach at Descanso Beach Club.
