Mary Chapin Carpenter Signs to Zoe/Rounder Records

Mary Chapin Carpenter has signed a worldwide recording contract with Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Rounder Records. A new studio album entitled 'The Calling' will be released on the label's rock/pop imprint Zoe Records in March, 2007. The album was recorded and co-produced with keyboard virtuoso Matt Rollings (Lyle Lovett, Keith Urban), with whom Carpenter co-produced her critically-acclaimed previous album, 'Between Here & Gone.' 'The Calling' will feature all new original songs.

Over the course of a celebrated 10-album career to date, Mary Chapin Carpenter has won five Grammy awards and sold well over 12 million albums. The Boston Globe recently said, "slowly but surely, Mary Chapin Carpenter has built a repertoire that ranks with the best of her generation." That repertoire includes twelve top ten singles, including "He Thinks He'll Keep Her, " which was nominated for a Record of the Year Grammy. 'Between Here & Gone' received considerable critical praise.

Carpenter has achieved the same success as a live performer, having toured nationally and internationally for nearly two decades and won two Pollstar Country Tour of the Year awards.

Founded in 1970, Rounder Records is America's premier independent label. Rounder and its Zoe, Heartbeat, Philo and Bullseye Blues imprints have a catalog of over 3000 albums, representing a wide variety of folk, roots, rock, blues, and reggae music.
