| A Benefit for the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra New York, NY September 22, 2006 -- Event planner and Big Apple lifestyle blogger Wanda Mann, best known to her readers as Mann About Town, will host a pre-concert reception at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Saturday, October 14thю The reception will take place in the exclusive Patrons Lounge preceding concert featuring the legendary Bebo Valdes with Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. "Mann About Town parties are always fun but I am also committed to supporting worthy charitable causes. Music is one of my passions and Jazz at Lincoln Center never ceases to amaze me with their commitment to preserving America's musical legacy. One of the many negative effects of Hurricane Katrina was that many cultural organizations lost artists, instruments and funding. The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra is the only major jazz institution based in post-Katrina New Orleans. I want to contribute in every possible way to their renewal and survival, " said Wanda Mann. A native New Yorker, each week Wanda sends out her free Mann About Town e-newsletter highlighting the city's most unique and affordable cultural events to a dedicated list of subscribers. An events planner for more than 12 years, Wanda's clients include the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health and the Princeton Club of New York. She also serves on the Board of Directors of New York Women in Film and Television. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
