| The Art of the Solo Performance September, 24 Deathwaltz Productions presents The Art of the Solo Performance (curated by Justin M. Berger) at University of Pennsylvania's premiere music and arts venue, The Rotunda, Philadelphia, PA. An evening of solo musicians from different places and musical backgrounds will take the stage to perform their virtuosity of their instruments. The musicians will then for the first time ever, take the stage as an ensemble, performing a free improvisation. The artists are Matt Weston, Jesse Sparhawk, Brian Marsella and Jason Fraticelli. Weston, plays percussion and electronics, and has performed throughout the US and in Europe with Arthur Brooks, Bill Dixon, Kevin Drumm, Paul Flaherty, Milford Graves, William Parker and Jack Wright among others. Jesse Sparhawk is a multi-instrumentalist and composer specializing in harp and guitar. He was featured in Max Avery Lichtenstein's original score for the critically acclaimed documentary/autobiographical film "Tarnation" (2004), and the soundtrack to the film "The King", starring William Hurt and Gael Garcia Bernal. Brian Marsella has performed worldwide with an array of fresh talent and as a regular in Cyro Baptista's Beat the Donkey on Piano and Melodica. He has studied Piano at the Juilliard School and Peabody Institute, as well as the New School University.
