| Jay Landesman's New Cabaret in London Jay Landesman, who introduced audiences to Barbara Streisand and Woody Allen at his Crystal Place Bar in St Louis, has teamed up with top pianist, Clifford Slapper, to present a new London Cabaret, Intimate Nights. The opening night will be Sunday 8 October 2006 featuring Carolyn Cassady, (in a Q&A session) author, Beat icon and wife of Neal Cassady, and lover of Jack Kerouac; Fran Landesman, poet and songwriter; Myra Sands, famous as the lascivious nun in Ken Russell's The Devils, excerpts from her one woman show; actor Struan Rodger, reciting from works of the Irish writer P J Kavanaugh; three exciting singers: the stunning Polish blues and jazz diva Ryszarda; Simon Lawrence, rock ballad singer; Caroline, a contemporary soul singer plus other surprises. The new venue, Cottons Caribbean Restaurant and Bar, is at the end of the· fashionable Exmouth Market, London EC1, nearest tube Angel, then buses 19/38. Intimate Nights continue on the second Sunday of each month with an eclectic mix of spoken word and cool new musical talent. Clifford Slapper, one of the top pianists working in London today, runs his shows at the Arts Club in Frith Street in Soho. He recently completed a project with David Bowie for BBC2 to be shown in September.
