| Tampere Jazz Happening Once again, the 25th international Tampere Jazz Happening launches a dashing series of concerts for the fans of modern jazz from November 2 to November 5, 2006. The programme for this internationally highly esteemed festival is now published. Almost 100 musicians gathered in 18 line-ups are ready to charm the audiences and to perk up November. The jazz legend Andrew Hill appears with his New Quintet and Marc Ribot Spiritual Unity re-interprets Albert Ayler's music. Kora Jazz Trio create authentic world jazz, while Tunisian oud virtuoso Dhafer Youssef discovers sensitive melodies together with the masters of Norwegian electronic jazz. Sussan Deyhim fuses Eastern and Western rhythms, offering us the world premiere of her new line-up! Musical and cultural boundaries collide, when the trans-Mediterranean Balkan Beat Box, wildly swinging Burnt Sugar and the jazzy hip hop group IsWhat!? take the stage. The energetic The Thing and the exhilaratingly original Atomic well represent Scandinavian jazz. Jazzfans will also enjoy many interesting Finnish line-ups such as Alexi Tuomarila trio and the Brazil-style Dalindčo. UMO Jazz Orchestra performs "The Legend of the Cranes", a work composed especially for the Happening by Iro Haarla. As usual, a great amount of top musical surprises is guaranteed.
