| Sarah Partridge at Algonquin Hotel Jazz vocalist Sarah Partridge, Good Morning America's "Break Out Artist, " kicks of the fall season at the Algonquin Hotel's legendary Oak Room with a fresh take on jazz classics. This will be the debut of songs off her new CD, entitled You Are There: Songs for My Father, to be released on September 1. For Sarah Partridge, the road to a jazz singing career started in movies and took a detour through a karaoke night. In 1982, Sarah landed the role of the babysitter in the Tom Cruise breakthrough film Risky Business, which led to both a string of acting gigs in LA and dates with Tom Cruise. Nearly a decade later, Sarah took the mic on a dare at a karaoke bar, and was snapped up by a jazz booking agent in the audience. Sarah's new CD, You Are There: Songs for My Father, is a moving tribute to her father. His obsession with jazz inspired her own, but yet he never once heard her sing before his premature death. The CD collects his favorite tunes, including "Wouldn't It Be Lovely, " "Stars Fell on Alabama" and a Sarah original, "Dancing in My Mind." You Are There follows two successful albums, I'll Be Easy to Find in 1998 and Blame It On My Youth in 2003.
