Dan Freedman's New Album

Dan Freedman, New York guitarist, singer and songwriter, continues playing and recording in the area. He is also involved with the recording of a new CD and teaching music students in Long Island.

Dan Freedman is no newcomer to the music scene. "I've been playing in bands since I was 13 and I'm 34 now and it's still fun!" This past summer has been quite busy for Dan. Along with performing solo a good deal of the time, he fronts "The Dan Freedman Project, " a power trio and plays with several jazz combos.

Along with performance, Dan has been recording an all acoustic CD with the help of fellow musician and jazz guitarist Steve Scouten. "For the past 8 months or so, I've been going to Steve's house to record. All the music is original and I wanted to keep it simple and get these songs recorded. It's one of those things where you have songs for so long in your repertoire, you just have to do something with them." The CD will be entitled "Acoustic Songs East to West." "A few of the songs were written back when I was living out West, so they have that "cowboy" feel to them."

Plans for the future include continuing to perform as much as possible and teaching. "Playing is how I pay my bills, and I also like teaching students on the instrument. There is a certain satisfaction in sharing my knowledge and I also learn during the process. I'm always looking for a gig with new musicians to challenge me. You can never stop learning. My attitude is keep the ego in your back pocket and let your instrument do the talking!"
