Simone Awhina in Arizona

On August 26 vocalist Simone Awhina will appear in concert at the Sedona Creative Life Center. During this concert she will take her audience on a musical journey of original songs and a variety of blues, jazz, pop and Broadway tunes.

Simone is an international concert and recording artist from the Netherlands. She participated in the World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood from Aug. 6 through 12, where she won a bronze medal in the Broadway category; a silver in the Contemporary category; and a gold medal for Song and Dance.

Simone brings innovation into the world of pop music with contemporary songs filled with inspiration, encouragement and joy. Full-bodied and powerful, her voice proclaims a presence at once calming yet uplifting. Her special musical gift comes through with a wondrous generosity that touches deeply into the hearts of her listeners.

With a style reminiscent of a combination of Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand and Enya, Simone's vocals range from soothing ballads to more upbeat modern pop songs.

Simone has performed concerts and sound healing workshops worldwide, has been featured on TV and radio shows in the Netherlands and the United States, and has performed with noted musicians who have worked with top artists such as Frank Sinatra, Les Paul, Tony Bennett and Harry Connick, Jr. She is currently studying with Mr. Riley, vocal coach for Celine Dion and Faith Hill.

"I have listened to hundreds of singers from around the world and have never heard a performer reach out and touch the audience as Simone does." Wayne Sanders - Musical collaborator with Liza Minelli and Judy Garland.

Simone's life-changing concerts have been presented around the globe with phenomenal results. One of her most memorable concerts was in 2005, at the Memorial Concert for the rescue workers of 9/11 at Saint Andrews Church in Manhattan. Those who attended that concert said it was an incredibly moving and healing experience because of Simone's music, voice and presence.
